READING, Pa. - The No. 10 Saint Francis bowling team is coming back to Loretto with a pair of first place trophies and five All-Tournament Team honors after a big weekend at Kutztown University.
The Red Flash won the day for the second consecutive day with a total pinfall of 4731 while placing two more players on the All-Tournament Team. Marissa Matassa (Plum, Pa./Plum Senior) averaged 195.8 and Christina Leid (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) averaged 206 as each earned the All-Tournament honors. SFU also won four of five matches Sunday after winning five of six yesterday.
"Back-to-back first place finishes, getting hard fought wins and seeing Red Flash players receiving All-Tournament honors both days is a good start to our season," SFU head coach Tom Falbo said. "We'll rest up a bit this week and work to get stronger as we move into our November matches. I'm proud of their performance this weekend."
Ashley Howe, Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area), and Leid earned spots on the All-Tournament Team on Saturday. Howe had a Baker Frame Average of 20.2, Ross with a Baker Frame Average of 20.3 and Leid won Most Valuable Player of the Tournament with a Baker Frame Average of 21.31. The Flash posted a pinfall of 4673 on Saturday.
The Flash return to action Nov. 9.
