JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 11, 2013) – Saint Francis plays the first of its 13 home games on Monday when it hosts Navy for as a part of the City of Johnstown's Veteran's Day celebration.

The game will also mark Red Flash basketball's return to the historic Cambria County War Memorial Arena after a 40-year layoff.

One of four home courts the team has used since basketball became a sport at Saint Francis in 1905, the War Memorial served as the backdrop for many early games against Duquesne and Saint Vincent before becoming the team's fulltime home from 1970 to 1972.

Built in 1950 and renovated in 2003, the Arena is the outgrowth of the initiative of the Johnstown Lions Club, under whose sponsorship representatives of the 50-odd civic organizations dedicated themselves early in World War II to support the idea of a war memorial.  The building also served as the backdrop for the classic Paul Newman film "Slap Shot."

The Red Flash was 12-6 at home during their two seasons at the War Memorial, including wins over East Carolina, VCU, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall and Canisius.
