BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 30, 2013) – Jesse Reed scored 20 points and John Schoof had 18 as American University spoiled the home opener for Saint Francis with a 75-43 win on Saturday.
The Eagles (2-4) were trailing 8-7 when Reed fueled a 22-5 run with nine points. He also had a couple of steals and an assist as American pulled away.
"It's one thing to be out-executed but I'm disappointed in our effort," said SFU coach
Rob Krimmel. "I thought our guys would come out with a focus."
"We've got to do a better job, when things aren't going our way, of not letting our emotions get the better of us. In a game like this where we didn't make some shots early, it allowed them to open up a lead."
American led 33-20 at the half and scored the first five points of the second half, turning that into a decisive 14-2 run.
Sophomore
Stephon Mosley (Harlem, N.Y./Seton Hall Prep) came off the bench to score 12 for the Red Flash (1-6), all on 3-pointers. Saint Francis shot just 31 percent – compared to American's 54 percent – and was out-rebounded 42-20.
Junior
Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) had a solid all-around game for the Flash scoring nine points to go with three blocks, two boards and a steal.
Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) led SFU with seven rebounds.
Saint Francis is back in action on Wednesday when it welcomes Lehigh for a 7 p.m. contest.
