FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)
The Saint Francis U men's basketball team travels to Brooklyn Heights-based St. Francis Brooklyn as it wraps up its two-game New York trip on Saturday. The Red Flash looks to end a string of three lopsided setbacks and an eight-game losing streak that dates back to Jan. 5.
The Terriers are 2-3 in their last five games, including a 19-point win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Jan. 19 and a 71-61 upset of Robert Morris on Thursday. In between, St. Francis Brooklyn dropped home games to Monmouth and LIU Brooklyn and a game at Central Connecticut.
St. Francis Brooklyn is led on offense and defense by Jalen Cannon. The 6-6 forward is averaging 16.4 points per game as well as 9.4 rebounds – both team-leading averages. The sophomore has produced 19 steals on the year as well, second on the Terriers squad.
Saint Francis is 12-20 all time in Brooklyn Heights against the Terriers.
On the bright side for SFU, junior
Umar Shannon (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) and freshman
Stephon Mosley (Harlem, N.Y./Seton Hall Prep) were back in action on Thursday. Shannon started the game scoring five points and Mosley tied for the team lead with five rebounds.
Following Saturday evening's matchup with St. Francis Brooklyn, the Red Flash will remain on the road to visit Robert Morris on Wednesday. The televised contest will tipoff at 7 p.m.
