FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)

The Saint Francis U men's basketball team makes the trek to Connecticut Thursday night for its second matchup of the season against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.

The Red Flash are coming off back-to-back losses while the Pioneers are riding a one-game win streak after they defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 77-70 last Thursday.

SHU's Shane Gibson comes in averaging 20.4 points per game, the second best scoring average in the conference. The senior guard was one of four players to reach double figures in points the last time these two teams met. Gibson poured in a game-high 23 points in Sacred Heart's 75-72 win at Saint Francis.

Junior Louis Montes ranks 10th in the NEC with 6.3 rebounds per contest for SHU.

In the short history between these two schools that dates back to the 1999-00 season, Sacred Heart holds the advantage 12-9 in the all-time series, and a three-game win streak.

The Red Flash are 4-6 against the Pioneers when playing on the road.

Saint Francis remains in Connecticut this weekend as they take on Quinnipiac, for what could be, the final time as conference foes. Tip-off on Saturday is scheduled for 3 p.m.
