BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 17, 2013) - On the final day of play at the James Brown Invitational, the Saint Francis U bowling team capped off its tournament run with an eighth place showing out of the 25 teams competing.
It was a struggle for the Red Flash on Sunday, losing first 4-0 to No. 12 Sacred Heart in a best-of-7 baker format for the championshp bracket style round. After going up 2-0 against No. 20 Delaware State and leading in the third game, DSU turned the momentum in their favor, winning game three and coming back to beat SFU 4-2.
Individually, baker frame averages for the day finished as follows:
Lauren Johnson (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast) - 21.15,
Christina Leid (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) - 20.30 and Ashley Howe - 19.44.
Shelby Derr (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) made the all-tournament first team by averaging 214 for her traditional game performance in Saturday's round of play.
Saint Francis returns to action this weekend Feb. 23 and 24 for the ECAC Invitational.
