Game #27 Preview: Monmouth at Saint Francis

The Saint Francis U men's basketball team concludes the home portion of its schedule Saturday when the Monmouth Hawks visit DeGol Arena for the final time as conference foes.

Monmouth is coming off a 77-65 road loss Thursday night to league leader Robert Morris and have lost six of their previous eight games. The Red Flash on the other hand picked up its fourth win of the season the other night at home against Fairleigh Dickinson, 69-63.

The Hawks' leading scorer this season is sophomore Andrew Nicholas. The 6-6 guard averaged 13.9 points per game this year but has not seen action on the court in 10 games. Monmouth now leans on senior guard Jesse Steele. Steele averages 12.1 points per contest and ranks ninth in the NEC with 3.7 assists per game.

SFU holds the upper hand in the all-time series at home,15-9.

Saint Francis hits the road to close the 2012-13 regular season with a trip first to Connecticut next Thursday for a 7 p.m. matchup with Central Connecticut. SFU earned its first win of the season over the Blue Devils back on Jan. 3 by the final score of 67-60.
