Saint Francis Falls at LIU Brooklyn

BOX SCORE BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 4, 2013) – The Saint Francis University women's basketball team lost to the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, 61-43, at the Wellness Center on Monday evening.

The Red Flash (12-9, 7-3) were led by Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle), the junior forward finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season. Latava Whippy scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Blackbirds (5-16, 2-8).

The Flash did not hold a lead the entire game and shot just 30% from the field. SFU trailed 27-21 at halftime, their lowest first half total since Jan. 19.  

Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) posted 11 points, including a perfect night from the free throw line (4-4). Nickia Gibbs (Greenbelt, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) scored five points in 14 minutes of playing time in the second half, her first action after missing two games.

SFU was held scoreless for the first 3:15 of the game until Williams hit a mid-range jumper. Both teams shot under 40% from the field in the first half.

Saint Francis returns to Sweet Loretto for a one-game stop as they face Mount St. Mary's at 4 p.m. The contest will be SFU's sixth annual “Think Pink” game.
