Robert Morris pulls away late to down Saint Francis

BOX SCORE MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2013) – Lucky Jones scored a game-high 20 points and Karvel Anderson chipped in 17 to guide Robert Morris to a 60-48 win over visiting Saint Francis U on Wednesday.

The Red Flash stayed within striking distance for most of the game before the Colonials (16-8; 8-3) pulled away with under seven minutes to play.

“We did some good things defensively but gave up too many second-chance points,” said SFU head coach Rob Krimmel.  “We missed too many free throws and too many layups.  In a game against Robert Morris, especially on the road, you have to do those things to be successful.”

Umar Shannon (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) paced Saint Francis with 12 points, followed by 10 from Dominique Major (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park).  The Flash shot 37 percent (15 for 47) from the field on the evening.

Robert Morris led 25-16 at the half – the lowest output for the Colonials in any half this season.

“We got some open looks for people who were supposed to shoot the ball and didn't knock them down,” said Krimmel.  “We've just got to bounce back now and control the things we can control.”

The Red Flash (2-20; 2-9) won the battle of the boards, 34-27.  Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) and Anthony Ervin (Chesterfield, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) each grabbed six rebounds in the losing effort.

Saint Francis returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Mount St. Mary's for a 7 p.m. contest.
