Red Flash go 2-4 on day one at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 15, 2013) – During Friday's baker play at the Music City Classic the Saint Francis U bowling team posted a 2-4 record in its six matches played.

“The team fought a very stubborn lane condition all day and never lost their determination to win,” assistant coach Barbara Jones said. “We are focused for Saturday's matches and plan to make a strong move to the top. Our goal is to improve targeting during Saturday's traditional format and get as close to the top as possible.”

Freshman Ashley Howe led the day for the Flash with a 20.10 baker frame average. Not far behind her was sophomore Lindsay Corner (Drexel Hill, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) with a 20.03 and current Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) with a 20.00.

Match one against Wisconsin Whitewater resulted in a 819-779 loss. Other matches were as follows: SFU vs. Louisiana Tech 686-652 W; SFU vs. Sam Houston 848-877 L; SFU vs. Texas Southern 738-701 W; SFU vs. Nebraska 653-766 L; and SFU vs. Central Missouri 771-773 L.

The Flash are currently in 12th place of 29 teams and are less than 50 pins out of 9th.

Saint Francis continues the Music City Classic on Saturday with traditional game play.
