SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 17, 2013) – During Sunday's bracket style best four-out-of-seven baker play at the Music City Classic, the Saint Francis U bowling team posted a 1-2 record on its way to a 13
th place finish among the 29 teams.
The Red Flash fell in back-to-back matches to start the day, losing both by 4-1 counts. SFU opened with conference foe Sacred Heart and was victorious in the third game by a 211-170 final score but struggled to find a win in the remaining four games.
New Jersey City, also a league member, was next on the docket for the Flash. In the fourth game Saint Francis found the win column 214-189 but fell in the rest of the games played in the match.
The battle for 13
th place came down to SFU and St. Francis Brooklyn and needed a comeback victory to seal the deal. Down 3-0 heading into game four, the Red Flash put together four consecutive game victories to grab hold of a 4-3 win over the Terriers. Game five was a monster win for the Flash, 247-151.
Maryland Eastern Shore, the nation's No. 2 ranked team, earned the tournament win after a perfect 2-0 Sunday.
Saint Francis makes its first ever appearance in the Northeast Conference Tournament this upcoming weekend beginning on Saturday.
