BOX SCORE NEWARK, Del. (Sept. 13, 2013) – Squandered opportunities came back to bite the Saint Francis U women's soccer team Friday evening and, instead of The Red Flash stringing together a fourth consecutive win, it was Delaware that walked away with a signature 2-0 result.
The Blue Hens' Andrea Arnold broke a 0-0 tie 11 minutes into the second half and added an insurance goal in the 86th minute to hold off SFU (3-3-1).
The Red Flash was not without its scoring chances, however, as shots on goal (6 to 5) and corner kicks (5 to 4) each fell narrowly in Delaware's favor.
Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) led all players with seven shots, including four of her team's five shots on goal.
Eloá Nascimento (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Jose Maria Matosinho) fired Saint Francis' other shot on goal but it, like the others, was stonewalled by Delaware goalkeeper Jessica Levy.
Flash keeper
Jessica Andrew (Doncaster, South Yorkshire UK/Balby Carr) made stops on four of the Blue Hens' six shots on goal in the match.
Saint Francis returns to action on Sunday when it visits Villanova.
