Tesa strikes twice as The Red Flash turns back Bucknell

BOX SCORE LEWISBURG, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2013) – Senior MAC Hermann Trophy candidate Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) struck twice – including a golden goal with less than a minute to go in double OT – to lead Saint Francis U to a 2-1 win over Bucknell Saturday afternoon.

The Red Flash (3-2-1) willed its style on the overmatched Bison for most of the 109 minutes leading up to McKibben's 19th career game-winner, holding a staggering 38-to-18 advantage in shots and a 17-to-7 edge in shots on goal.  McKibben alone was credited with 15 shots, five of which were on goal.

After a scoreless first half, Bucknell's Danielle Piccirilli drew first blood in the 65th minute but McKibben responded in the 82nd minute by tucking a shot from 15 yards out inside the left post.

The improbable game-winner was the result of a long service – furnished by Korrin Hackenberg (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) and Casey Gallaher (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills), who were credited with assists – headed in by McKibben for her fifth goal and 13th and 14th points of the campaign.

Flash senior Ellie Gavin (Hilliard, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) finished with nine shots, including four on goal.  Goalkeeper Jessica Andrew (Doncaster, South Yorkshire UK/Balby Carr) posted six saves while lifting SFU to its third consecutive win – and its fourth in a row over Bucknell (2-3-0).

Bison keeper Jessie Ashworth made 14 saves in the match.

The Red Flash returns to action on Friday when it visits Delaware for a 7 p.m. tilt.
