Men's Basketball Ben Mitchell

Game #17: Wagner at Saint Francis

FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)

The Saint Francis U men's basketball team looks to get back in the win column on Saturday as it welcomes Wagner to open a season-long five-game home stand.

Despite a 1-2 start in Northeast Conference play, the Frankies look much-improved as of late while drawing some of the league's premiere teams.  SFU's two NEC losses to date came on the road to Bryant and Robert Morris, which tied for second place in the preseason coaches' poll.

The Red Flash started slow in each of those contests, but rebounded to out-score both teams in the second half.

Wagner, which was tabbed as the NEC's preseason favorite, enters on the heels of an 89-80 setback at Mount St. Mary's.  The Seahawks are 9-20 all-time at the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center, where the Red Flash has not yet won a game this season.

Wagner's scoring efforts are led by Latif Rivers who is averaging 14.2 points per game. IN all, four Seahawks enter with double-digit scoring averages. Mario Moody is WC's top rebounder, pulling in 6.9 per contest.  Wagner is +15 on the boards over its past three games.

Saint Francis welcomes Mount St. Mary's to Sweet Loretto on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest.
