READING, Pa. - The Saint Francis bowling team went 1-2 on the final day of competition at the KU Invitational. In the best-of-seven Baker format, the Red Flash started off strong beating the tournament host, Kutztown, 4-2.
In the second round play, it was Norfolk State besting the Red Flash 4-2.
The Red Flash faced Kutztown again in the third round of the bracket as the two teams battled hard through seven games. Saint Francis started strong and had a 30-pin lead through the fourth frame of game seven, but could not hold on as Kutztown won the game and the match, 4-3.
"Today started out well, then it came down to shotmaking in key situations, which is at the heart of best-of-seven Baker matches," Flash head coach
Tom Falbo said. "Just when we found our advantage in a match, it quickly turned. Overall, we got key victories and 10 wins amongst a great field. So there is much positive to take away and we'll continue to work."
Sarah Ross (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) led all Red Flash players with a 19.64 Baker frame average for the weekend.
Christina Leid (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) averaged 18.65,
