BOX SCORE FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Oct. 12, 2014) – Saint Francis U established a pair of one-goal leads – including one as late as the 76th minute – but each time Sacred Heart drew even as the Northeast Conference rivals played to a 2-2 double-OT tie Sunday.
After a scoreless first half, freshman
Gabi Morales (Madrid, Spain/Colegio La Inmaculada-Marillac) staked the Red Flash to 1-0 lead in the 58th minute. Senior Eloá Nascimento slipped a through-ball up the left side to hit Morales, who then fired toward the far post for her first goal at the NCAA level.
It took just over a minute for the Pioneers' Marissa Christy to erase the Flash lead.
The Frankies once again pulled ahead in the 65th minute when sophomore midfielder
Siobhan Bross (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) dished to setup rookie
Allison LaDuke (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe)'s second goal of the campaign. LaDuke beat Sacred Heart keeper Talia Schwartz 1-on-1 to light the lamp.
Emily Dawidcyk knotted the game back up 11 minutes later to close out the scoring.
The Pioneers racked up an eye-popping 33 shots during the contest, but the vast majority were wild and off the mark – only a third of their shots were on goal.
The Red Flash offense was much more surgical in its approach, taking 11 shots, six of which were on goal.
