Red Flash Hosts Buffalo for 14-15 Home Opener

FULL PREGAME NOTES (pdf)

LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 17, 2014)
– The Saint Francis University women's basketball team opens the home portion of its 2014-15 schedule as Buffalo visits Loretto for a 7 p.m. contest on Tuesday night.

It will be the first of three consecutive home games for the Red Flash as they host East Tennessee State on Friday and Canisius on Nov. 30.

SFU faced Buffalo last year on the road and lost 87-77 in early December. The Bulls hold the all-time series advantage at 4-0, but last season was the first time the two schools had played since 1995-95.

Morale is high for the women's squad after it hung with Ohio State down to the wire on Sunday afternoon. The Red Flash never led in the contest, but offensive rebounding and spurts of hot shooting kept SFU neck and neck with the Buckeyes for most of the contest. OSU held just a 57-55 lead at halftime of the contest.

Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) led the way with 35 points for Saint Francis U, while three other players scored into double-figures. The 113-97 loss at Ohio State marked the highest combined score ever in Value City Arena's history, including men's and women's basketball.
