FULL PREGAME RELEASE [pdf]NAVY WEBCAST [free]Â ::Â LIVE STATSÂ ::Â SFU RADIO [free]After having its two-game win streak snapped at #7/9 Texas on Tuesday, the Red Flash travels to Annapolis, Md. to take on the Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy.
The Mids are on an early-season win streak of their own after downing Hampton (70-68) and Penn State-Harrisburg (67-42) to up their record to 2-4. Led by Zach Fong (12), three Navy players scored in
double figures Wednesday against the Don Friday-led Lions, who are members of the NCAA Division III Capital Athletic Conference.
Friday served as head coach of the Red Flash from 2008 to 2012.
While the Frankies pulled out a, 60-57, win over Navy in last season's meeting at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, they'll have a bit of history to turn aside in pursuit of a victory Saturday afternoon. With one game remaining on this month's docket, the Red Flash has a chance to win three games in November for only the second time in program history. The only other time SFU has accomplished the feat was during the 1997-98 campaign (3-1).
Saint Francis will remain on the road to take on Lehigh on Wednesday before welcoming UAlbany to Sweet Loretto on Saturday for "Kevin Porter Day."
RANDOM BULLET POINTS- While the Red Flash snapped a lengthy non-conference road skid last season, interleague wins in November have been hard to come by. The last for SFU came on Nov. 29, 2008 – a 66-65 nail-biter over Youngstown St.
- At its next home game on Dec. 6, Saint Francis all-time great Kevin Porter will be on hand as his jersey is
- honored beside those of Basketball Hall of Famer Maurice Stokes and Norm Van Lier.
- Coach Rob Krimmel on Texas game: "We knew coming in we were going to have to take care of the basketball, limit our mistakes and make some shots. In the first half I was very pleased with the shots that we got, and the right people were taking those shots. We just didn't hit some of them."
