LORETTO, Pa. (Dec. 27, 2014) – Fresh off its first win of the season and a short Holiday recess, Saint Francis U will play back-to-back days at Pittsburgh and West Virginia to close out the non-conference portion of its schedule.
The Red Flash is coming off a solid team win on the road at Coastal Carolina on Dec. 21. SFU was led by senior
Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk)'s season-high 37 points, getting her scoring average back to second in the NCAA at 26.0.
Saint Francis also received nice contributions off the bench from
Rochelle Reece (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) as the freshman scored a season-best eight points on an efficient four shots, while
Adila Gathers (Buffalo, N.Y./Tapestry Charter) and
Hope Phillips (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) combined for 12 rebounds.
SFU will again face two tough opponents in the Panthers and Mountaineers. Pittsburgh has won its last three games and also beat its one common opponent with SFU, Ohio State, on Dec. 3 in Columbus.
It is SFU's first two games in two days since its appearance in the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament a season ago when it played FGCU and Tulane in back-to-back fashion.
Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. contest against the No. 21 ranked Mountaineers on Monday.Â
