SFU Closes Out Non-Conference Schedule at #21 WVU

LORETTO, Pa. (Dec. 29, 2014) – In its second game in as many days, Saint Francis U travels to Morgantown to clash against the No. 21 West Virginia Mountaineers, tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.

SFU suffered a setback yesterday against the University of Pittsburgh, while WVU also lost its last contest on Dec. 22 at Ohio State.

Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) scored 23 points yesterday at Pitt marking her 10th time in 11 games of scoring at least 20 points. The senior captain has reached at least 30 points on three separate occasions also in 2014-15.

Redshirt freshman Cydney Smith (Port Tobacco, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) grabbed a career-high nine rebounds off the bench for Saint Francis yesterday, and notched four blocked shots.

This is the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools, all of which have been played inside the WVU Coliseum. West Virginia took the last game in December of 2010 and has won all four previous contests.

The Mountaineers have one other common opponent with the Red Flash besides the Buckeyes. WVU hosted Duquesne on Dec. 10 and won 79-60.

This will be SFU's second contest against a ranked team this season as it traveled to Knoxville earlier this month to face #14 Tennessee.

The Red Flash opens Northeast Conference play this upcoming weekend as Wagner and Robert Morris visit Loretto.
