Terriers hand Red Flash disappointing home setback

BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 20, 2014) – St. Francis Brooklyn completed its season sweep of Saint Francis U with a lopsided 73-44 win Thursday at DeGol Arena.

In a battle of fifth-place teams in the Northeast Conference standings, the Terriers used a 24-4 run five minutes into the first half to pull ahead for good and cruise into the break with a 42-19 edge.

Six Terriers scored during the decisive 10-minute stretch, while the Red Flash countered with 2-for-10 shooting, eight turnovers and four points from Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview).

"We'll go back and chop this thing up and we'll watch the clips tomorrow and find out where we can get better," said SFU coach Rob Krimmel  "To achieve our ultimate goal, games like this must not happen."

"Give St. Francis Brooklyn credit.  They came in and executed their game plan.  Their style of play forces you to execute and I didn't think that we did that – especially in the first half."

The Terriers, who are the only NEC team to defeat the Frankies by over 10 points this season, were led offensively by Ben Mockford who tallied 16 points.

The Terriers (16-12, 7-6) bench scored 40 points and their tenacious defense shut down Red Flash (8-18, 6-7) scoring opportunities, holding them to just 33 percent shooting. The Terriers dominated the boards 38-24 and shot 54 percent from the field.

Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) led Red Flash in scoring with 12 points and Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) chipped in with 11.

The Red Flash welcomes LIU Brooklyn on Saturday in its home finale.  Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
