NEC SEMIFINAL: Saint Francis at Robert Morris

FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)

Fresh off its first Northeast Conference Tournament win since 1996, the Red Flash makes the short trip west to take on one of its most familiar rivals, Robert Morris.

Saint Francis and the Colonials will meet for the 76th time and the fourth time in the postseason on Saturday as the Frankies take part in the NEC Semifinals for the first time since their 1991 title run.

Despite the futility in between, the current Flash is 1-0 in collegiate basketball postseason play.

Despite being just two years removed from its last postseason berth, none of SFU's 13 current players were on the roster when it qualified for the tournament in 2010-11.

One notable exception is Rob Krimmel, who is taking part in his eighth NEC Tournament as a Red Flash player, assistant and now head coach.

The top-seeded Colonials defeated SFU, 73-68, In Moon Twp. on Jan. 16, but required a miraculous comeback to do so.  The Red Flash used a 34-11 run to go up by 11 points with under five minutes to play, however RMU scored 19 of the game's final 22 points to earn the win.

The Colonials edged the Frankies,  66-60, in Sweet Loretto on Feb. 13.
