LORETTO, Pa. (March 7, 2014) - Another regular season has come and gone for the Saint Francis University women's basketball team, and another playoff berth was successfully clinched by the Red Flash, it will make its sixth straight Northeast Conference Tournament.
Third seeded Saint Francis will welcome No. 6 Sacred Heart for a 3 p.m. NEC Quarterfinal match-up, a rematch of last season's NEC Semifinal contest, where SFU earned its 15th trip to the NEC Title game in the past 20 seasons.
The Flash is coming off a very successful last regular season weekend after picking up victories against Robert Morris and Wagner. Against Wagner on March 3,
Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) set a new SFU single game scoring record with 47 points and earned her fourth Player of the Week honor.
Saint Francis holds an all-time NEC Tournament record of 41-8 and it is in search of its 12th NEC Title. The two teams split in the regular season series, the Pioneers won in Fairfield in the NEC Opener, 95-88.
Saint Francis won the last meeting on Feb. 8 inside DeGol Arena, 89-80. Sacred Heart holds the advantage in the all-time series, 16-10.
