Delaware slips by Red Flash

BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (August 24, 2014) – Brenda van Stralen's new-look offense generated several chances, but couldn't furnish the equalizer as Saint Francis U fell to Delaware, 1-0, Sunday at DeGol Field.  The setback drops the Red Flash to 0-2 on the young season.

Madison Brosler scored the eventual game-winner in the 43rd minute by beating a diving Romina Kunze (Frankfurt, Germany/Carl-von-Weinberg-Schule) to the right to highlight an evenly-matched first half.

Delaware held a 7-6 edge in shots in the frame, while both teams attempted one corner.

The Blue Hens kicked their attack up a notch in the second half, racking up a 13-to-4 advantage in shots.  Despite the onslaught, Kunze posted a second-half shutout and finished the day with 11 saves.

The Red Flash heads west to play two matches at the University of Nevada Las Vegas Tournament.  Saint Francis takes on Kent State on Friday, then home-standing UNLV on Sunday.
