SFU to Play First-Place Bryant on Monday

LORETTO, Pa. (Jan. 11, 2015) – In its longest road trip of the conference season, Saint Francis U is now in Smithfield, R.I. to face the Northeast Conference's top team in Bryant.

The Bulldogs sit atop the NEC standings with the best overall record by a wide margin a 10-4 and they are yet to have a blemish on their league record at 3-0. Bryant has bested both Brooklyn schools in LIU and St. Francis and recently took down Fairleigh Dickinson at home on Saturday.

The Red Flash took down defending NEC Champion Robert Morris last Monday and nearly completed a 15-point comeback against Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Both meetings between SFU and Bryant last year were very hard fought and each team won on the road. Bryant's win in Loretto in 2013-14 came in dramatic walk-off fashion as they won on a buzzer-beater.

Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) reached the 30-point plateau against the Pioneers on Saturday, marking her fourth time doing so in 2014-15. The senior captain now needs just 27 points to crack into the top-ten on the SFU all-time scoring list.

Sophomore guard Samiah Bethel (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) played in her first game against the Pioneers, she missed the first 14 contests due to an injury.

Saint Francis returns home next to face Sacred Heart for the second time in three games. This contest can be viewed on ESPN3 and tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
