Red Flash Media NotesThe Saint Francis Red Flash will look for its first 4-1 start in NEC play for the first time since the 1997-98 season when Sacred Heart comes to DeGol Arena on Friday night. The Flash started that year 5-1 under head coach Tom McConnell on its way to a 10-6 NEC record. The Flash just defeated the Pioneers, 77-68, on Saturday at Sacred Heart.
Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) recorded his 24th career double-double, compiling 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Malik Harmon (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) led all scorers with a career-high 25 points, and
Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview) added 11 points and nine rebounds.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW1. The Red Flash last played back-to-back conference games against the same opponent during the 2004-05 season - also against Sacred Heart. The Red Flash defeated the Pioneers in the final two games of the regular season.
2.
Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) has made 11 three pointers in the four NEC games this season, and he leads the conference with a .452 three-point percentage this season.
3. The Flash is looking for its first 6-0 start at home since 2003-04.
BOUNCING BACKThe Red Flash continued its strong trend of following losses with wins. The Flash moved to 5-1 in games following a loss, and SFU hasn't had a two-game losing streak since the opening two games of the regular season.
ACTION JACKSONSenior guard
Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) is third on the team with his 8.0 points per game average. Jackson has been hot from beyond the arc in four NEC games, making 11 three pointers. He is currently ranked first in the Northeast Conference, making 45.2 percent of his three-point attempts.
HARMON GETS CAREER HIGHSophomore guard
Malik Harmon (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) set a career high with 25 points in the Red Flash's victory at Sacred Heart on Saturday. He scored the first six points of the second half to open SFU's lead from two points to eight, a working margin the Flash maintained throughout the half. Harmon scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half.
HOME COOKIN'Friday night's contest marks the sixth home game for the Red Flash this season, and Saint Francis has yet to lose on the DeGol Arena floor. At 5-0, the Flash has its best home start since the 2003-04 season. That team started 6-0, so a win Friday against Sacred Heart would match that.
HALFTIME HAPPINESSThe Flash held a two-point lead at the half at Sacred Heart, and that again led to a Saint Francis victory. The Flash is 8-0 in games that it leads at halftime, compared to 1-6 in games in which it trails.
60 OR BETTERReaching 60 points has been a solid benchmark for the Red Flash so far this season. In games where the Flash hits 60 points scored, SFU is 8-1. SFU is averaging 65.9 points per game and is allowing just 64.1 points per game, the lowest mark in the NEC.
BROWN HONORED AS NEC PLAYER OF WEEK FOR SECOND TIMEEarl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) won his second NEC Player of the Week Award last week for his performance in three Red Flash games, including two NEC wins. He averaged 18.3 points on 52.9 percent shooting from the floor, and added 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals in three games.
