LORETTO, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2015) – After a much needed victory over Wagner on Monday night, Saint Francis U hosts Fairleigh Dickinson in the early portion of another SFU Saturday basketball double-header.
The Red Flash will hope to keep rolling as they welcome a Knights team they have bested each of the past seven tries. SFU saw four of its players reach double-figures in the scoring column against the Seahawks in its last contest.
Corissa Archer (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge) had a weekend to remember as the senior forward put together two career-best performances of 18 and 22 points, respectively. Archer shot 90% for the weekend and was recognized by the Northeast Conference as the Player of the Week.
Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) nearly put together a triple-double on Monday night as she posted 19 points, a career-best 13 rebounds, and dished out seven assists.
Hope Phillips (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) also scored a career-high eight points off the bench for the Flash.
SFU currently is tied for the eighth and final playoff spot in the NEC with St. Francis Brooklyn and Wagner, all are 2-6 in league play. FDU is a half game up on those three schools because of a cancellation due to weather on Monday night, they are 2-5 in conference play.
Saint Francis reached the century mark in both games against Fairleigh Dickinson in 2013-14.
SFU will host NEC leader Bryant (14-5, 7-1 NEC) on Monday evening at 7 p.m. Those may remember the Bulldogs stealing one last season in Loretto on a buzzer-beater.
