Live Audio GAINESVILLE, FLA.- The Red Flash women's basketball team will take on the host Florida Gators in the O'Connell Center on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in game two of the Gator Holiday Classic.
Saint Francis joins Florida, NC State, and Eastern Kentucky for the 25th annual Classic. SFU will play either the winner or the loser of the NC State/EKU game on Monday at noon in game three of the tournament.
ABOUT THE FLASHSFU comes into the game still in search of their first road win of the season. The Red Flash looked to get that elusive win on Thursday afternoon as they lead Marshall for much of the game including a 52-42 lead midway through the third quarter. However, a 34-8 run that including a 21-2 stretch in the fourth for the Thundering Herd rallied them to a 81-73 victory over the Flash.
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) battled foul trouble but led four players in double figures with 19.
Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) added 15 while
Katie Reese (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and
Maya Wynn (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) each had 11. One big key for the Red Flash will be taking care of the basketball, Florida forces 23 turnovers a game including an average of nearly 14 steals. In both of the Red Flash victories, SFU was on the right side of the turnover battle. Both teams like to press, so expect a fast-paced game.
ABOUT THE GATORSFlorida comes in as one of the hottest teams in the nation, winning nine-straight games including an upset of then #6/7 Florida State. As a result, they are receiving as many as 20 votes in the top-25. They bring a balanced scoring attack led by pre-season All-SEC Ronni Williams at 11 points per game. Three players average double figures and six average at least eight points per game as the Gators are averaging nearly 85 points per game. Florida overwhelmed fellow NEC-member Robert Morris in their last contest, forcing 24 turnovers in a 79-52 victory. Three Gators were in double figures led by Eleanna Christinaki, who scored 13 points and was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her efforts.
ABOUT THE MATCH-UPThis is the second all-time meeting between the schools. Nearly two years ago to the day, Florida knocked off the Red Flash 105-71 on December, 17 2013.

Brooklyn Taylor (Greenville, Pa./Greenville),
Taylor Allison (State College, Pa./State College), and
Samiah Bethel (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) will be facing the Gators for the second time in their career. Brock had 13 points off the bench for the Flash in the loss. Williams, Cassie Peoples, and Carly Needles will be facing the Flash for the second time.

LOOKING AHEADAfter wrapping up the Gator Holiday Classic, the Flash will enjoy eight days off before welcoming in West Virginia State for en exhibition game on Tuesday, December 29th. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. from DeGol Arena.
