LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 20, 2015) – After its most successful week of play during the 2014-15 season, Saint Francis U will hit the road for its final full road trip in Northeast Conference play.
Â
The Red Flash went 2-0 last weekend in games they virtually had to win. They beat LIU Brooklyn on Senior Day then followed up with an encore victory against then NEC leader, Central Connecticut on Monday evening.
Â
The league recognized the Flash hot streak that has started and honored
Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) as the Player of the Week, while
Maya Wynn (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) earned her second Rookie of the Week honor.
Â
Saint Francis will first play St. Francis Brooklyn tomorrow, a team it has dominated the all-time series with, but have lost the last three contests. That includes a 70-55 win the Terriers had on Jan. 19 inside DeGol Arena.
Â
SFBK went 2-0 last week as well and are playing some of its best basketball of the season, so the Red Flash will need to be at its best. The Terriers are the best defensive team in the league and only allow an average of 61.2 points per game. Ironically enough it was defense that led SFU over CCSU as they allowed a season-low 48 points in the game.
Â
Saint Francis will then travel to Central Connecticut on Monday night for the second meeting between the squads in exactly a week.
