LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2015) – Saint Francis U will once again need to be at the top of its game as it faces Central Connecticut on Monday evening.
The Red Flash faces a Blue Devils team that is in a three-way tie for first-place in the Northeast Conference with a 12-3 league record. Saint Francis took it to CCSU last Monday in Loretto and shut down the Blue Devils only allowing 48 points, a season-low.
After losses to Robert Morris and SFU, Central Connecticut righted the ship on Saturday earning a win against Sacred Heart. The Flash suffered its fourth straight setback to St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday and now will virtually need to win at least two of the next three games to ensure a spot in the NEC Tournament.
SFU has dominated the all-time series against Central as it holds a 25-8 advantage, including victories in each of the last four meetings.
Joe Haigh holds a 5-1 all-time record against the Blue Devils, which is his best mark against NEC schools.
On Saturday,
Hope Phillips (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) set a career-high as the senior center scored nine points against the Terriers, all of which came in the first half.
Saint Francis will travel to Robert Morris on Saturday for its third straight game away from Loretto, one would have to look at the 2010-11 season to find the last SFU squad that beat the Colonials in Moon Township.
