LORETTO, Pa. (March 1, 2015) – Following the loss to Robert Morris on Saturday and Mount St. Mary's win over Wagner, the Saint Francis U women's basketball team was officially eliminated from playoff contention.
 
The Red Flash will now look to play the 'spoiler' role and beat a Mount St. Mary's team that had previously lost nine games in a row. MSM has secured at least the eighth and final playoff spot, but it could move up to as low as sixth.
 
SFU lost to the Mountaineers in Emmittsburg at the end of January in an overtime thriller. The Flash held led most of the contest, but struggled to score in the extra period.
 
This is the first time since the 2007-08 campaign that the Red Flash has missed the Northeast Conference Tournament and the first time under head coach Joe Haigh. SFU made the past two NEC Championship games in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
 
Alexa Hayward (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) will leave Saint Francis fourth on the all-time scoring list, she will only trail Jess Zinobile (2,338), Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) (2,170), and Beth Swink (2,127). She holds the all-time three point records for makes and attempts and will leave second all-time on field goal attempts.
