FAIRFAX, VA. (April 3, 2015) -- The Saint Francis U men's volleyball program dropped a Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference match 3-0 to the George Mason Patriots Friday afternoon.
The Patriots jumped on the Flash early in the first set forcing Saint Francis to burn their first timeout down 15-9. Saint Francis failed to rally past George Mason as the Patriots claimed the first set 25-19.
After a long hard fought battle the Red Flash lost a marathon second set 37-35. Saint Francis had the second set to win, but squandered a 24-18 lead.
George Mason forged on to defeat the Frankies in the third set 25-20.
Jeremy Gatson led the Flash with 10 kills, while
Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) attacked the ball at a .600 clip. Freshman
Shaughn McDonald (Coraopolis, Pa./Our Lady of Sacred Heart) collected a season-high nine kills along with three service aces.
Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) tallied 35 assists in the contest.
The Red Flash dropped to 2-5 in conference play, but look to turn things around at home against Sacred Heart on April 10.
