Towson, Md.- The Red Flash volleyball team dropped their opening match of the 2015 season, falling in three sets to the Manhattan Jaspers at the Towson Invitational.

Saint Francis fell 25-19, 25-14, 25-20 in Friday's opening match.Â
Breanna Opera (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster ) and
Hannah Kutny (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) picked up where they left off as last year's offensive leaders, recording seven and six kills, respectfully.

Defensively,
Emily Marcinowski (Strongsville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led three players in double figures in digs with 15 as the Flash held the Jaspers to a .080 hitting percentage. It was a defensive-minded match for both teams as Manhattan held Saint Francis to a .053 hit percentage.

The match was a game of runs, Manhattan pulled away in the first set, reeling off an 8-1 run to erase a 14-12 Saint Francis lead. In the second, The Red Flash opened with a 4-0 run, only to see the Jaspers score the next six and put the game away with a 7-0 run midway through the set. The back-and-forth third set went the way of Manhattan after a key 4-0 run made it 18-11. Â The Flash would rally but fall short at 25-20.Â
The Red Flash are back at it this afternoon, when they take on the Hornets of Delaware State at 445.Â
