LIVE VIDEO (NEC FRONT ROW)LORETTO, PA-Â Saint Francis women's basketball welcomes in Keystone State and Northeast Conference rival Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon in a pivotal conference match-up on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside DeGol Arena.Â
ABOUT THE MATCH-UPBoth teams come into Saturday's game in search of snapping a two-game NEC losing streak. Both teams dropped conference games at Central Connecticut and Bryant and sit at 5-3 and in third place in the NEC. This will be the 79th all-time meeting between the two rivals. Saint Francis trails the all-time series 40-38, but their 38 wins over RMU are the second-most versus any all-time opponent (St. Francis Brooklyn-40). The two teams split the regular season series last year, with each defending their home court. The Red Flash knocked off RMU 71-68 last January in DeGol Arena and dropped a 71-60 decision at RMU last year.Â
APPROACHING MILESTONESA win on Saturday would be the 300th Northeast Conference victory in Saint Francis University history, they would be the first NEC school to eclipse the milestone. Saint Francis is 299-203 (.596) all-time in the Northeast Conference. Senior
Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) has 905 career points, and has the opportunity to become just the 24th player in Red Flash history to reach 1000 career points.Â
ABOUT ROBERT MORRISThe pre-season NEC favorites, Robert Morris comes into the contest at 11-8 overall and 5-3 in the NEC. The Colonials have lost three of four including the mutual sweep last weekend. Junior guard A Niki Stamolamprou leads the Colonials' balanced offensive attack with just under 14 points per game. The Colonials also shoot the three very well with Rebeca Navarro leading the NEC shooting 46 percent from beyond the arc. RMU averages over seven made threes per game. While both teams like to shoot the three, both teams are apt at defending the three as well, RMU and SFU sit 1-2 in the NEC, allowing teams to shoot just 29 percent from deep. Turnovers again will be key, RMU commits the fewest turnovers in the NEC and is second in the NEC to the Flash in turnover margin, RMU sits at +2.25 turnovers per game so far this season.Â
ABOUT THE FLASHThe Red Flash return home after dropping a pair of NEC road contests at CCSU and Bryant.
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) continued her torrid start to the season, averaging 22.5 points in the two games.
Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) will also look to stay hot, the senior has scored at least nine points in each of her last four games, including a pair of double-digit efforts last weekend.
Brielle Ward (Baltimore, Md./Western (Hampton U)) will also look to keep attacking the glass, the senior is averaging seven rebounds per game and led the team in rebounds and in steals this past weekend. SFU is 3-1 at DeGol in the NEC, winning their last two contests against Mount Saint Mary's and Fairleigh Dickinson.Â
LOOKING AHEADThe Flash's homestand is a brief one with the team traveling to New Jersey to take on Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday. Tip time from the Garden State is set for 7 p.m.
