Men's Hoops Looks to Bounce Back at LIU Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Saint Francis men's basketball team finishes its weekend in Brooklyn with a matchup against LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. following the women's game between the two schools.

The Red Flash looks to rebound from its first conference loss of the season at St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday night. SFU was looking for its first 3-0 start in NEC play since 2002-03. Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the Red Flash in scoring with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting.

The Red Flash fell behind by as many as 16 points in the first half before trimming the deficit to one in the second half. SFU never did take a lead in the game, but a victory under such circumstances would have given the Flash its first win when trailing by double digits and losing at halftime since winning at Rutgers in Dec. 2014.

NOTES FROM ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN
  • The Red Flash lost its sixth straight game to the Terriers.
  • Saint Francis cut a 16-point first half deficit to a single point on a handful of occasions but never had a lead.
  • The Terriers became the first team this season to shoot 50 percent or better against the Flash from three-point range.
  • SFU's 80 percent from the line is the third highest percentage this season, and second highest when attempting at least 20 free throws (Lehigh - 22/26, 84.6 percent).
  • Ben Millaud-Meunier (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier) didn't attempt a three pointer in a game for the first time since Jan. 24, 2015 at Mount St. Mary's.
  • Freshman Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell) scored the first five points of his collegiate career.
  • Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview) recorded his fifth double-double of the season and 10th of his career.
FREE THROW PRECISION
The Red Flash came into Thursday's game with St. Francis Brooklyn shooting 65.6 percent as a team from the free throw line. SFU shot 80 percent against the Terriers, making 16-of-20 free throws. That's the third best percentage for the Red Flash in a game this season, and the second best when attempting 20 or more free throws. SFU shot 84.6 percent (22-of-26) at Lehigh in December. SFU's highest percentage came at Albany later in December, making all four of its free throws attempts.

ABOUT LIU BROOKLYN
