Red Flash Set to Take on Hoyas in NCAA Tournament

LORETTO, PA-  Saint Francis women's soccer is heading to the Nation's capital to take on the Georgetown Hoyas in the NCAA tournament opening round. 

Sunday's match will start at noon from Shaw Field on the campus of Georgetown. 

ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis won the Northeast Conference tournament on their home field after defeating Fairleigh Dickinson and Central Connecticut by 2-0 scores. They have won their last five matches, four of them by shutout. Saint Francis sports the Northeast Conference Player of the Year, Gabi Morales (Madrid, Spain/Colegio La Inmaculada-Marillac), who leads the team with six goals and 19 points this season. Sara Suler (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory), a first team All-NEC forward and NEC tournament MVP, is second on the team with 16 points and tied for the team lead with six goals. The Red Flash's stingy defense is led by first-team All-NEC defenders Allison LaDuke (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) and Casey Gallaher (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) and All-Rookie goalkeeper Julia Hernan (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School). 

The two teams share a pair of common opponents, with each having played West Virginia and George Washington. The Hoyas defeated both by 1-0 scores while SFU fell 1-0 to George Washington and 3-1 at West Virginia. The teams have also met five times previously, with Georgetown winning four. They last met up in 2011 with the Hoyas prevailing 1-0. 

ABOUT THE HOYAS
Georgetown won the Big East tournament as the number three seed and defeated DePaul and Marquette to claim the crown. They come into the tournament ranked #7 in the Coaches' Poll  and #5 in the Soccer America poll. They have the Big East Freshman of the Year in Amanda Carolan after scoring nine goals to go along with three assists. Rachel Corboz and Grace Damaska were both named to the Big East First Team after posting 32 and 31 points this season, respectfully. Arielle Schechtman will get the start in goal, she owns a .61 goals against average and a .819 save percentage. 

WHAT'S AT STAKE
The winner of Sunday's match will take on the winner of Rutgers and Harvard on Friday, November 18th.
