WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Saint Francis men's basketball team travels to the nation's capital to face American University on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Campus Insiders.Â
The Red Flash led by head coach
Rob Krimmel, picked up their second win of the season, a 87-72 victory against Longwood, to improve to 2-2 on the season.Â
The Eagles are still in search of their first victory of 2016. American fell to NEC foe Wagner 73-65 on Tuesday.Â
NOTES FROM LONGWOODÂ
- The Red Flash placed four players in double-figures on Tuesday.
- Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) led the Flash with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He recorded his first career double-double.
- SFU kept its hot-shooting to start the season, with a 60 percent clip against the Lancers.
- Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) hit 7-of-9 from the field for 15 points, including 13 in the second half, six rebounds and four blocks.
- Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) added 15 points, nine assists and four steals
SERIES HISTORYÂ
American leads the all time series 12-6 and leads 7-1 in games played in Washington, D.C. The last time the Flash topped the Eagles in D.C. was in 2003 with a 64-54 victory.
NEBO'S BLOCK PARTY
Sophomore forward Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) has become a force when it comes to protecting the rim. After posting 59 blocks as a freshman, Nebo added four more against Longwood. His 67 career blocks are already good for seventh all-time at Saint Francis, four away from tying Jason Osborne (2001-05) for sixth place.
Nebo has also been a force on the glass this year, including a career-high 16 against the Dukes. He is 58th in the nation in rebounds per game, averaging 9.Â
BOMBS AWAY
Saint Francis hit on 9 threes against St. Bonaventure, 10 against Duquesne and 19 vs. Chatham. The Red Flash are currently third the nation with a 47.8 three-point percentage and ranks eight, averaging 11.0 three-pointers per game. SFU's 19 against Chatham are the third-most in a Division I game this year.
Senior guard Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou) has hit a team-best 13 threes this year and ranks 48th in the NCAA with a 50.0 three-point percentage. Sophomore Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) has hit 7 threes, sophomore Isaiah Blackmon (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) and sophomore Scott Meredith (Pilot Mountain, N.C./Hargrave Military Academy (Va.)) have five, while freshman Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) and sophomore Andre Wolford (Willowick, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) both have hit four.

Boosted by a 30-assist performance against Chatham, the Red Flash is eighth in the nation in assists per game, averaging 20.8. With 83 total assists, SFU is assisting on 63.9 percent of its made shots.
YOUTH MOVEMENTÂ
Eleven of the eighteen players on the Saint Francis roster are freshman or sophomore eligibility. Of the 15 players who have appeared a game this year, 10 are freshmen or sophomores. Through four games, the group has combined for 331 of the team's 363 points (91.18 percent) and 629 of 801 minutes (78.5 percent).
TEAM CAPTAINSÂ
Senior guard Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou), sophomore guard Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) and sophomore forward Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) were selected Team Captains for the 2016-17 season. Angelou, one of three seniors on the roster, moves into a bigger role this year after being a key contributor off the bench last season, leading SFU with a 47.4 three-point percentage. King will provide leadership at the point guard spot, while Nebo made a big impact in his freshman campaign, starting 29 games.
ABOUT THE EAGLESÂ
The Eagles are off to a 0-4 start this season, with a 73-65 defeat against NEC foe Wagner on Tuesday. Sa'eed Nelson led American with 24 points against Wagner, while Mark Casperini added 19 points and eight rebounds.Â
The Eagles shot 39 percent from the floor and made eight three-pointers.Â
Saint Francis will look to slowdown Sa'eed Nelson, who is averaging 13.8 and 3.5 rebounds points to lead the Eagles. Casperini is the leading rebounder for American, averaging 5.0 a game and is contributing with 11.5 points. Delante Jones is second on the squad, averaging 13.5 points a game.Â
