Men’s Basketball Faces In-State Rival Lehigh on Monday

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's basketball team heads to Bethlehem, Pa. on Monday night to take on in-state rival, Lehigh.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Stabler Arena.  The game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
 
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach Rob Krimmel, is 3-4 this season and looks to bounce back after losses to NJIT, 83-70, and Binghamton, 73-70, last week.  The Mountain Hawks are 4-5 after a 90-71 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday.
 
NOTES FROM BINGHAMTON
- The Red Flash placed four in double figures for the fifth time this season.
- Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) led the Red Flash with a career-high 22 points.
- Isaiah Blackmon (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) added 18 points off the bench, while Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) hit seven-of-eight shot attempts for 16 points and added
nine rebounds.
- Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) recorded his second double-double of the season, with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
- Saint Francis shot 47.5 percent from the field and has shot 41 percent or better in all seven games this year.
- SFU out-rebounded the Bearcats, 36-28.
 
SERIES HISTORY 
Saint Francis and Lehigh are meeting for the 10th straight season, with Lehigh winning eight of the last nine games.  However, the Red Flash won last year's contest, 84-74, in Loretto.  SFU trails the all-time series, 9-4.
 
ACTION BRAXTON
Braxton averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, two assists and 2.5 steals per game in two contests last week to earn his second straight NEC Rookie of the Week award.  In Wednesday's game at NJIT, Braxton contributed 11 points, eight rebound, four assists, three steals and a block, with nine of his 11 points coming in the second half.  On Saturday against Binghamton, he netted 16 points, on seven-of-eight shooting, and added nine rebounds and two steals.  He has posted double-digit scoring efforts in six of seven games this season and has five games with eight or more rebounds.  He is fourth among NCAA freshman in rebounds per game (8.7) and averages the most rebounds among freshman guards,  Braxton ranks third in the NEC in steals (1.9 per game), and fifth in shooting percentage (57.9%). 

NEBO'S BLOCK PARTY
Sophomore forward Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) has become a force when it comes to protecting the rim.  After posting 59 blocks as a freshman, Nebo has 11 this year, with one coming against Binghamton.  His 70 career blocks are already good for seventh all-time at Saint Francis, one away from tying Jason Osborne (2001-05) for sixth place.  Nebo leads the NEC with 1.57 blocks per game.
 
He's been good on the offensive end this year too, where he ranks seventh in the nation in shooting percentage (70.4).  He's also tied with teammate Keith Braxton (Glassboro, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) for second in the NEC in rebounding (8.7 per game).
 
BOMBS AWAY
Saint Francis hit on 9 threes against St. Bonaventure, 10 against Duquesne and 19 vs. Chatham.  The Red Flash are currently sixth the nation with a 43.2 three-point percentage and leads the NEC, averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game.  SFU's 19 against Chatham are the fourth-most in a Division I game this year.
 
Senior guard Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou) and sophomore guard Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) are tied with a team-best 15 threes this year.  Sophomore Isaiah Blackmon (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) and Scott Meredith (Pilot Mountain, N.C./Hargrave Military Academy (Va.)) have nine and eight, respectively, while sophomore Andre Wolford (Willowick, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) has hit six.

BALANCED ATTACK
Saint Francis placed four players in double figures in the 73-70 loss vs. Binghamton.  The Red Flash has put at least four players in double figures in six of seven games this season.  SFU had five in double figures in the opener at Saint Bonaventure.
 
King (14.0), Nebo (13.7), Braxton (12.9) and Blackmon (10.3) are all averaging double-figures through seven games.
 
DROPPING DIMES
Boosted by a 30-assist performance against Chatham, the Red Flash is 49th in the nation in assists per game, averaging 16.4. With 115 total assists, SFU is assisting on 55 percent of its made shots.

YOUTH MOVEMENT 
Eleven of the eighteen players on the Saint Francis roster are freshman or sophomore eligibility.  Of the 15 players who have appeared a game this year, 10 are freshmen or sophomores.  Through seven games, the group has combined for 499 of the team's 572 points (87.2 percent) and 1146 of 1400 minutes (81.8 percent).

TEAM CAPTAINS 
Senior guard Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou), sophomore guard Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) and sophomore forward Josh Nebo (Houston, Texas/Cypress Lakes) were selected Team Captains for the 2016-17 season. Angelou, one of three seniors on the roster, moves into a bigger role this year after being a key contributor off the bench last season, leading SFU with a 47.4 three-point percentage. King will provide leadership at the point guard spot, while Nebo made a big impact in his freshman campaign, starting 29 games.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
The Mountain Hawks are 4-5 this season and earned a 90-71 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. 
 
Senior center Tim Kempton led the Mountain Hawks with a career-high 31 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds.  Junior guard Kahron Ross added 16 points, while senior guard Austin Price had 13.
 
Kempton ranks 20th in the nation in scoring, averaging 22 points per game, and 43rd in rebounding, averaging 9.4 boards.  Kempton has posted four double-doubles through eight games.  Ross is averaging 12.9 points, while sophomore guard Kyle Leufroy is contributed 11.3 per game.  Lehigh is a very good shooting team, ranking 15th in the nation in free-throw percentage (77.7) and 20th in three-point percentage (41.1).
