LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis sophomore receiver
Kamron Lewis (Fresno, Calif./Edison) added to his All-America honors on Thursday, being named Sophomore All-America by HERO Sports. This is Lewis' fourth All-America selection this postseason.
Â
Lewis's breakout sophomore campaign helped the Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Chris Villarrial, to a 7-5 record, its first NEC Regular Season Title and the program's first FCS Playoffs bid. SFU posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1991-92 and clinched its first conference title as a Division I program. SFU earned the NEC's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs, where it met Villanova in the First Round.
Â
He was also an All-America Selection by the Associated Press, College Sports Madness and STATS FCS (Third Team).Â
Â
The NEC Offensive Player of the Year, the third in SFU program history, broke the NEC and SFU season record with 1,478 receiving yards, passing SFU's Michael Caputo (1,433 yards, 2005). That is the third-most receiving yards in the FCS this season. Lewis also ranks third nationally in receiving yards per game (123.2), ninth in yards per catch (19.7), 12th in receiving touchdowns (11), 20th in receptions per game (6.3) and 25th in all-purpose yards per game (132.5).Â
Â
The sophomore had eight 100-yard receiving games this year, including six straight to close the season. He is the first SFU receiver to post six straight 100-yard games since Caputo in 2005. Lewis had at least one touchdown catch in eight games this year, including six touchdowns in the last four games. He had five catches of 60 or more yards.Â
Â
The California native's top receiving performance this year came in the win against Central Connecticut State, when he caught eight passes for 189 yards and a touchdown. He had 10 catches for 188 yards and a score against Malone and 10 receptions for 184 yards and three touchdowns at Sacred Heart. Lewis caught six passes for 129 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown, in SFU's FCS Playoffs First Round matchup against Villanova.
Â
Lewis is already fifth in program history in career receiving yards, with 1,585.
