EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Saint Francis men's basketball team looks for its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon against Mount St. Mary's. The Red Flash tips off with the Mountaineers at 3 p.m. following the women's game between the two schools.Â
Saint Francis is looking for its fifth straight win for the first time since winning five straight during the 2010-11 season. SFU is also looking for its 10th NEC victory for the first time since the 2004-05 season. That was Saint Francis' third straight season with 10 NEC victories.
NOTES FROM ROBERT MORRIS- Saint Francis won its fourth straight game for the first time since winning five straight in January 2011.
- The Red Flash earned its first regular season sweep of Robert Morris for the first time since 2000-01.Â
- The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak at Robert Morris and is the team's first win there since the 2007-08 season.Â
- Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview)'s 17 points and 16 rebounds included a double-double in the second half - 11 points and 10 rebounds.
- SFU used a 16-3 run in the second half to turn a 46-44 deficit into a 60-49 lead. Drinnon and Georgios Angelou (Halkida, Greece/Lykeio Kanithou) had 14 of the 16 points on the run.
- Saint Francis moved to 11-1 when leading at halftime and 12-3 when outrebounding its opponent.Â
- SFU's 15-for-16 (93.8 percent) at the line is the team's highest percentage at the stripe when shooting at least 10 free throws this season.
- Ben Millaud-Meunier (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier) moved above 200 made three pointers in his career, the fourth SFU player to do so.Â
- Josh Nebo (Katy, Texas/Cypress Lakes) had four blocks to give him 39 this season. He's in third place on the school's single-season list.
MILLAUD-MEUNIER MILESTONESSenior
Ben Millaud-Meunier (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier) scored 27 points in the Flash's win over Central Connecticut to put him over 900 points in his career. He added 14 at Robert Morris on Thursday to bring his total to 937 points. Millaud-Meunier also made three three pointers in the win over RMU to give him 201 makes from beyond the arc. He's the fourth player to reach that mark. Rahsaan Benton (2001-06) is third on the list with 203. Should Millaud-Meunier reach 1,000 career points, he would be the 40th player in SFU history to do so.Â
BEATING BOBBY MOThe Red Flash earned its first regular season sweep of Robert Morris for the first time since 2000-01, and the victory snapped an eight-game losing streak at Robert Morris and is the team's first win there since the 2007-08 season. Saint Francis has now won three of its past four games against the Colonials. It's the first time that's happened since the Flash won those two games in the 2000-01 season and won a third straight game in the teams' first meeting in 2001-02.Â
The Red Flash defeated Robert Morris at home for the second consecutive time with its 90-78 victory on Jan. 30. That's been a rare occurrence in the recent series. The last time that happened was the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. Last year's win over the Colonials snapped a 14-game overall losing streak in the series and a 10-game home losing streak to Robert Morris.
NEBO'S BLOCK PARTYFreshman center
Josh Nebo (Katy, Texas/Cypress Lakes) recorded four blocks in Thursday's win over Robert Morris after having five last Saturday against Central Connecticut. Nebo currently sits in third place in the SFU single-season list with 39 blocks. Melvin Scott holds the single-season record with 70 blocks in 2000-01. Nebo's next plataeu is second place and Jerry Mack with 43 blocks.
FINDING THE OFFENSIVE GROOVEThe Red Flash scored 90-plus points twice in a three-game span after surpassing that mark just once all season. SFU scored 90 against Robert Morris and 91 against Central Connecticut. The last time the Flash scored 90 points in two of three games was the 1990-91 season. That team, the school's lone NEC Champion and NCAA Tournament representative, scored 96 and 97 in back-to-back games in the first two rounds of the NEC Tournament.Â
DRINNON NAMED NEC PLAYER OF THE WEEKSaint Francis senior
Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview) was named the NEC and ECAC Player of the Week for his performancein two SFU home wins last week. The forward began his week with 12 points and 16 rebounds as the Red Flash overcame a 15-point second-half deficit to beat Bryant. On Saturday, he became the first SFU player in three years to grab 20 or more rebounds, and just the seventh player in the country since 2010 to post a 20-point, 20-rebound, five-assist game. He finished with career-highs in points (23) and rebounds (20), and added five assists. Drinnon, who averaged 17.0 points, 18.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and shot 57.1 percent for the week, also surpassed the 700-rebound plateau in Saturday's win.
ABOUT MOUNT ST. MARY'SThe Mount is coming off a 66-61 victory over Sacred Heart on Thursday night to snap a three-game losing streak. Junior Robinson led the Mountaineers with 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting. He also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Chris Wray scored 17 points while BK Ashe had 15.
LOOKING AHEADSFU heads home to face St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn next weekend. Mount St. Mary's hits the road to face Central Connecticut and Bryant. Three of the Mountaineers' final four games of the regular season will be away from home.
SERIES HISTORYThe Mount leads the series history, 42-30, and won the first meeting between the schools last month. In that 82-72 win for the Mount, both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor and from three-point range.
