LORETTO, Pa. -
The Saint Francis men's basketball team hosts LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon in the home regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. The team will honor seniors Ben Millaud-Meunier (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier), Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview) in a pregame ceremony that is scheduled to begin at 12:40 p.m.

The Red Flash will look to rebound from its current two-game losing streak with a win over the Blackbirds. In the very tight NEC standings, Saint Francis is one of four teams tied for second place. SFU, Mount St. Mary's, Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart are all 9-6 in NEC play and sit just one game behind first-place Wagner.

LIU Brooklyn is tied for seventh place with Robert Morris at 7-8 in NEC play. The Blackbirds are the only team in the top eight of the conference to not have a playoff spot clinched. LIU can clinch with one more win or a Bryant loss.

NOTES FROM ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN

  • Saint Francis was outrebounded for the first time in 15 games (Wagner on Jan. 2).
  • It was the first time since the Wagner game that an opponent recorded at least 15 offensive rebounds against SFU.
  • Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview) recorded his 15th double-double of the season and 20th of his career. It is also his sixth in a row.
  • Drinnon made two three pointers for the third time this season and fourth time in his career.
  • Freshman Michael Klebon (Paxinos, Pa./Southern Columbia) scored the first two points of his career on two free throws in the second half.
  • SFU tied its season high by playing 14 players (Maryland on Dec. 4).

SENIOR DAY

Saturday marks the final guaranteed home game for seniors Ben Millaud-Meunier (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier), Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview). It's a senior class that has scored 2,631 points, and it has helped to transform the program from a five-win team in their freshman season into a team that has made two straight trips to the NEC Tournament semifinals and now has a chance to win the conference regular season title as seniors. This class coincided with Rob Krimmel's first season as the team's head coach. In their four seasons under Krimmel, the trio has won 44 games. That total is the most for a class since the seniors of 2006 won 46 games in its four years.

AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

This weekend marks the third annual Coaches Powering Forward for Autism benefitting Autism Speaks. You'll see men's basketball coaching staffs from around the nation supporting this cause through wearing a blue puzzle piece pin on their suit jackets. The awareness created from this weekend will assist Autism Speaks in its continued commitment to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatment of autism.

TEAM CLOSING IN ON THREE POINTERS LIST

The Red Flash has made 185 three pointers this year, and the team will likely move into the top-five for most three pointers made in a season. The 2009-10 team is fifth on the list with 203 makes, and the all-time school record is 238 set by the NEC Championship team of 1990-91.

NEBO INTO SECOND PLACE ON SCHOOL BLOCKS LIST

Freshman center Josh Nebo (Katy, Texas/Cypress Lakes) had three more blocks against St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday night. He now has 44 blocks this season. The freshman is now second on the school's single-season blocks list. He passed Jerry Mack (1986-87) for second. Melvin Scott is still far ahead in first place, finishing with 70 blocks in 2000-01.

SENIOR BULLETS

  • The group helped the team to its first NEC Tournament win since 1995 and its first road playoff win since 1989 during the 2014 tournament.
  • Millaud-Meunier is looking to become the 40th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. He currently has 944.
  • He also recently surpassed 200 three pointers in his career, one of just four SFU players to do it.
  • Millaud-Meunier twice this season has come one three pointer shy of tying the school record of nine. He hit eight against Robert Morris and Central Connecticut in a span of just three games.
  • Ronnie Drinnon (Jamestown, Ohio/Greenview) is looking to become the first SFU player to average a double-double since SFU assistant coach Eric Taylor did it as a senior in 1997-98.
  • Drinnon is just eight points shy of 900 for his career.
  • Drinnon has 747 career rebounds, just seven behind Devin Sweetney (2006-10) for 13th place.
  • He became the first SFU player to record 20 rebounds in a game since Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) did it in 2013. Drinnon matched his total just two games later.
  • Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had a career-high 24 points in one of the bigger games in his career as SFU went on the road to defeat Mount St. Mary's in last season's NEC Tournament quarterfinals.
  • Brown is just five points shy of reaching 800 for his career.
  • Brown was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection last week and is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

ABOUT LIU BROOKLYN

The Blackbirds saw their brief two-game winning streak snapped with a 74-67 loss at Robert Morris on Thursday night. Sophomore Martin Hermannsson registered a team-high 18 points and junior Iverson Fleming added 12 points off the bench for the Blackbirds, who dropped to 13-13 overall and 7-8 in NEC play.

Jerome Frink leads the Blackbirds with a 16.9 points per game average. Hermannsson, the reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week, is second on the team with 15.9 points per game. Aakim Saintil (13.2 ppg) and Joel Hernandez (11.4 ppg) also average double figures. Frink is the team's leading rebounder at nine rebounds per game.

LOOKING AHEAD

Saint Francis finishes the regular season at Wagner and Sacred Heart before the NEC Tournament begins in early March. The Blackbirds finish the regular season with home games next weekend against Central Connecticut and Bryant.

SERIES HISTORY

The series history is tied at 35 games apiece, and Saint Francis head coach Rob Krimmel is 3-3 against the Blackbirds in his three-plus seasons. SFU earned its second road win at LIU Brooklyn in three years with its 72-65 win in early January. Five Red Flash players scored in double figures, led by Greg Brown (Odenton, Md./Archbishop Spalding)'s 14 points.
