ABOUT THE FLASHSaint Francis will honor seniors
Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy),
Brooklyn Taylor (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) and
Brielle Ward (Baltimore, Md./Western (Hampton U)) in a pre-game ceremony. The Flash are riding a three-game winning streak into the contest after sweeping Mount Saint Mary's and Wagner on the road last weekend. In both instances, Saint Francis saw themselves down at the half and used big second halves to get the victories. It was the first two times this season the Flash have won when trailing after 20 minutes.
Maya Wynn (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) was the ESPN3 Player of the Game on Saturday after connecting on five threes and scoring a career-high 21 points to go with a career-high nine rebounds. Saint Francis rebounded the ball well all weekend, getting 25 second-chance points on Saturday and pulling down a season-high 54 rebounds in the win over Wagner on Monday. Twelve of those boards came from
Courtney Zezza (Plum, Pa./Plum) who had her first career double-double setting high marks in points (16), rebounds (12) and blocks (4) in the 87-73 win over Wagner. Zezza was part of a very balanced offensive effort that saw four players in double figures led by
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg)'s 24 points as she earned the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the 12th time this season.Â
ABOUT LIUThe Blackbirds have traded wins and losses over their past six games after falling to CCSU on Monday night. Shanovia Dove leads LIU with 13 points per game, but the Blackbirds have a balanced attack with five players scoring at least seven per game. However, LIU ranks eighth in the NEC averaging around 57 points per game. The Blackbirds are a solid defensive team, allowing just 64 points per game and teams are shooting just 29 percent from three-point range against them. Their balanced effort extends over to rebounds as well where LIU has five players averaging at least five rebounds per game.Â
ABOUT THE MATCH-UPSFU defeated LIU 84-75 in Brooklyn back in January. In that game, the Red Flash forced 27 turnovers, turning them into 31 points. This will be the 62 meeting all-time between the schools, with SFU holding a 44-17 edge in the all-time series. The Red Flash have won the past two meetings including a 87-75 win at home last season. The last time LIU won in Loretto was during the 2013-14 season, a 69-66 triumph over the Red Flash.Â
