The Pioneers have clinched a share of the NEC regular-season and are winners of seven straight. Saint Francis has clinched a home game in the NEC tournament and are winners of five straight.
ABOUT THE FLASHSFU clinched a home game in the NEC quarterfinals after sweeping LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn last weekend. Against the Terriers on Monday night, the Flash closed the first quarter on a 26-6 run and never looked back in a 85-68 victory.
Maya Wynn (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) continued her hot streak, leading the way with 21 points. Wynn has reached double figures in four straight, including reaching her career high of 21 twice. SFU put five players in double figures while the Flash bench out scored SFBK's 40-5. Saint Francis has a shot at the two-seed in the NEC tournament as they sit just a game behind Bryant for the second-seed. They are two games up on Robert Morris, who sits in the number four spot. The tournament starts next Sunday, March 6th with games time still to be determined.
ABOUT THE PIONEERSSHU comes into the game winners of seven straight and nine of their last 10. The Pioneers are a very balanced team, placing three players in double figures and lead the NEC with a 42 percent team shooting percentage. Hannah Kimmel leads the Pioneers, averaging nearly 14 points and eight rebounds per game. She went for 25 in an 81-77 Sacred Heart win over the Flash back in January. The Pioneers also don't beat themselves, they average just 14 turnovers per game. Sacred Heart can clinch the NEC regular season outright with a win or a Bryant loss on Saturday. The title gives them home court throughout the NEC tournament and an automatic berth in the Women's NIT should they fail to win the NEC tourney.
ABOUT THE MATCH-UPSaint Francis held an 11-point second-half lead on SHU when the teams met back in January only to have the Pioneers storm back and claim an 81-77 victory.
Aisha Brock (Jacksonville, Fla./Potter's House Christian Academy) led the way with 21 points but the Pioneers held
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) to just eight before she fouled out. Hannah Kimmel's 25 led three Pioneers in double figures. This will be the 31st meeting between the two teams, Sacred Heart owns a 19-11 advantage all time. The Flash have not won in Pitt Arena since the 2012-13 season.
LOOKING AHEADThe Red Flash end the regular season at Robert Morris on Monday night. One of the NEC's oldest rivalries will be the last regular-season game for long-time RMU head coach Sal Buscaglia. Depending on Saturday's outcomes, seeding may be on the line on Monday, tip time from Moon Township is set for 7 p.m.
