Live AudioLORETTO, PA-Â Â Saint Francis will look to end a two-game NEC losing streak and hand Bryant their second-straight NEC loss when the Flash host the Bulldogs tonight at 5 p.m. at DeGol Arena.Â
ABOUT THE FLASHSFU will try and bounce back from a 79-59 defeat on Saturday against Central Connecticut. Saint Francis never led in the game and CCSU limited the Red Flash to just 3-25 shooting (12%) from three-point range.
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) was the only player in double figures with 11, snapping her streak of eight-straight NEC games with at least 16 points. Despite just four team assists on Saturday, SFU still leads the NEC with 14.5 helpers per game. The top two teams in assists will meet on Monday night. Led by
Cydney Smith (Port Tobacco, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) who averages over two blocks per game, the Flash lead the NEC with 4.5 blocks per contest. In the last matchup, SFU forced 20 Bryant turnovers and will look to do the same again tonight, Saint Francis also leads the Northeast Conference in steals (11.5 per game) and turnover margin (+2.52).
ABOUT THE BULLDOGSBryant comes into the game off their first NEC loss of the season, 55-53 at Robert Morris. The Colonials went on a 27-2 in the second half to earn the victory. Bryant is the best rebounding team in the NEC, they out rebounded the Red Flash 53-33 and scored 32 points in the paint. Robert Morris neutralized Bryant on the boards, out rebounding them 43-42 on Saturday. Bryant does turn the ball over 18 times a game and sits with a -2.91 turnover margin, good for eighth in the Northeast Conference. Turnovers and keeping Bryant off the glass and out of the paint are keys for tonight.Â
ABOUT THE MATCHUPThe Red Flash will look to build on a strong second-half against Bryant their last time out. SFU played Bryant dead-even in the final 20 minutes in a 84-72 defeat in Rhode Island. The Red Flash limited reigning NEC-Player of the Year Breanna Rucker to just nine points and forced her into six turnovers before fouling out. However, senior guard Tiersa Winder went for 27 points in the victory and the Bulldogs turned 22 Flash turnovers into 25 points. Historically, Bryant leads the overall series 7-5 including three straight.Â
LOOKING AHEADSaint Francis heads back on the road for a pair of afternoon games next weekend. The Flash will take on Mount Saint Mary's on Saturday at noon in a game that will be featured on ESPN 3. On Monday, SFU travels to Staten Island to take on Wagner in a 4 p.m. tip.Â
