LIVE STATS (SIDEARM)LORETTO, PA- The Saint Francis women's basketball team hosts Central Connecticut Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon in the Northeast Conference quarterfinals at 3 p.m. in DeGol Arena.
WHAT'S AT STAKEThe winner of the quarterfinal will advance to Wednesday's semi-finals. The Northeast Conference tournament will re-seed after Sunday's quarterfinals, with the highest-remaining seed hosting the lowest-remaining seed.
ABOUT THE FLASHSaint Francis comes into the contest at 13-16 overall and 11-7 in the Northeast Conference, tying (but losing the tiebreaker to) Robert Morris for third in the NEC. The 11 NEC wins marks the seventh time in eight seasons that the Flash have earned double-digit NEC victories and the third time in four years under head coach
Joe Haigh. SFU lost at Sacred Heart and Robert Morris to close the regular season but are winners of their last three games at DeGol Arena. This season, the Flash are 9-4 overall at home this season including 7-2 in the NEC.
ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILSCentral Connecticut overcame a 0-3 start to the NEC season to finish 9-9 and grab the fifth seed in the tournament after a victory at St. Francis Brooklyn to close the regular season. Camden Musgrave leads CCSU with 11 points per game as the Blue Devils are a disciplined team that will look to slow the game down. SFU will look to stop TeJahne Malone, the forward has averaged a double-double (15p/12r) in the two games against the Flash this season. The Blue Devils allowed just 19 points off turnovers against Saint Francis in the two meetings this season off of 38 turnovers. They have also held Saint Francis to 14 percent shooting (7-51) from three point range and 30 percent (41-138) overall.
SERIES and PLAYOFF HISTORYThe Flash lead the all-time series 25-11, but CCSU has won the last three. CCSU took both meetings in the regular season, including a 79-59 victory in DeGol Arena earlier this season. In both meetings this season, the Flash have failed to "speed up" the Blue Devils, scoring 59 and 51 points in the games, respectfully. SFU has to find an answer to TeJahne Malone, the forward has averaged a double-double in both meetings this season
