Fischetti’s Hat Trick Not Enough as Women’s Lacrosse Falls to the Mount, 12-4

EMMITSBURG, Md. Jessica Fischetti (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) tallied three goals as the Saint Francis women's lacrosse team fell on the road to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, 12-4, on Friday afternoon at Waldron Stadium.
 
The Flash falls to 4-11 on the season and 1-5 in the NEC, while the Mountaineers improve to 5-11 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Christina Fini (Huntington, N.Y./Smithtown East) added a goal and caused three turnovers. Victoria O'Brien (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) finished with a game-high five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Katie Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md./Hebron) recorded two assists.
 
SFU only scored one goal in the first half and struggled to mount a comeback against MSM in the second half.
 
The Mount got on the scoreboard first with just under 27 minutes to play in the first period. The Mountaineers scored another goal before the Flash responded. Fischetti scored the only Saint Francis goal in the first half at the 19-minute mark. MSM scored three more goals before the half.
 
Fischetti got the Flash on the board in the second half off a freed from Schaaf to pull within three at 5-2.
 
The Mountaineers would answer before Fischetti recorded her third goal of the game to cut the Mount's lead to three at 6-3.
 
MSM extended its lead to six with three-straight goals before Fini found the back of the net with just eight minutes to play to make the score 9-4. The Mount rattled off three unanswered goals to take the win, 12-4.
 
Saint Francis hosts Wagner on Sunday at noon for Senior Day.
