LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis women's soccer heads back to their home pitch of the Stokes SoccerPlex on Friday to take on the Virginia Military Institute at 4 p.m. It is a brief homestand as they head to Farmville, Virginia to face the Longwood Lancers on Sunday afternoon.
ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis played well but dropped both matches on the west coast against UC-Santa Barbara and Loyola Marymount.
Sara Suler (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and
Shannon McGinnis (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) lead the team in points while
Gabi Morales (Madrid, Spain/Colegio La Inmaculada-Marillac) and
Alyssa McGhee (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) pace the team in shots. In goal, look for
Julia Hernan (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) to get a pair of starts as she sits among the NCAA leaders in saves at 53 and a .760 save percentage. Friday's match marks the first time the Flash will take on the Keydets while Longwood owns a 2-1 series lead over the Flash all-time with the last meeting taking place in 2014.
ABOUT THE KEYDETS
VMI was picked ninth in the SoCon entering the year and sits at 3-4 on the season after falling 2-1 to NEC-rival Mount Saint Mary's last weekend. They are paced in scoring by Blake Cashin who has three goals on the season but three different players have scored multiple times this season for VMI. In goal, Emily Marbury has gotten every start for the Keydets this season while Ceci Keppeler has seen time in five matches. Together, they have a 1.29 goals against average and a .780 save percentage.
ABOUT THE LANCERS
Longwood comes into the match at 2-6 on the season. The Lancers were picked fourth in the Big South. Five different Lancers have scored so far this season through the eight matches but nobody has scored more than once. In goal, Maria Kirby has gotten all eight starts in goal. She holds a 1.45 goals against average and a .784 save percentage.
