Women's Soccer Closes Out Non-Con Hosting Duquesne

LORETTO, PA- Women's soccer closes out their non-conference season as they host the Duquesne Dukes Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Stokes SoccerPlex. 

ABOUT THE FLASH
Saint Francis successfully defended their home turf last Friday as they defeated VMI 2-1. Sara Suler (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and Casey Gallaher (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) tallied first half goals for the Flash as they secured their second home win of the season. On Sunday, the Flash lost in double overtime at Longwood, but the match saw freshman Alyssa McGhee (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) tally her first collegiate goal. Suler currently leads the Flash with five points on the season. Julia Hernan (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) has continued her strong play this season as she is currently leading the NEC and seventh in the nation with 61 saves. This will be the 19th meeting between the two schools with Duquesne owning a 10-7-1 advantage in a series that started back in 1994. 

ABOUT THE DUKES
Duquesne comes into the match at 3-3-2 on the season and was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic-10. SFU will have to watch out for Katie O'Connor, the sophomore forward was named to the All A-10 preseason team and leads the team with three goals so far this season. Kyra Murphy has gotten all eight starts in goal so far this season. She has played to a .96 goals against average with a save percentage of .822. The Dukes have been stronger away from Pittsburgh this season than on their own turf, going 2-0-1 on the road and 1-3-1 at home.

This match closes out the non-conference schedule. The Flash open up NEC play on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson next Sunday. They open up NEC play at home versus Mount Saint Mary's on October 9th.
