PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Saint Francis Football team fell 24-7 at Duquesne on Saturday at Rooney Field. SFU held the Dukes scoreless in the second half, but two first-half turnovers by the Red Flash led to a pair of Duquesne scores and the Dukes had a strong day running the ball. Saint Francis dropped to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the NEC, while Duquesne improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Saint Francis tallied 153 total yards, including 123 passing and 30 rushing. However, SFU turned the ball over three times.Â

Quarterback
Bear Fenimore (Austin, Texas/Westwood) completed 13-of-32 passes for 123 yards and two interceptions. He added a one-yard rushing touchdown on SFU's opening drive.Â

Jorge Solano (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs Charter) caught five passes for 42 yards, while junior
Kamron Lewis (Fresno, Calif./Edison) had three catches for 58 yards. Sophomore
Cyrus Holder (Uniondale, N.Y./Milford Academy) added two catches for 18 yards.Â
Avery Miliner (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) rushed for 22 yards on 10 carries.

Andrew Zecca (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) had a strong day, with six punts for 270 yards, an average of 45 yards, with two punts over 50 yards and two inside the 20.

Austin Gray (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) registered two tackles for loss, while
Shawn McCord (Aberdeen, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) and
Sean Orsini (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) each had one.

Duquesne quarterback Tommy Stuart completed 15-of-22 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown and contributed a bunch of key runs to pick up first downs. He totaled 46 yards on the ground, including a one-yard touchdown. Chavas Rawlins caught five passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Running back A.J. Hines rushed for 123 yards on 28 carries and added two receptions for 37 yards. PJ Fulmore added 68 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

On defense, Jonathant Istache led the Dukes with seven tackles, two breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Carter Henderson had six tackles and a sack, one of five sacks for the Dukes. Safeties Abner Roberts and Brandon Stanback each recorded an interception.Â

The Red Flash jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead. After a 45-yard kick return by Solano, and a Duquesne penalty that moved the ball to the SFU 40, on third down, Fenimore connected with Lewis over the middle. Lewis broke a few tackles to reach the one yard line. On the next play, Fenimore executed a quarterback sneak to get into the end zone.Â
Eric Bofenkamp (Warren, Ohio/John F. Kennedy)'s extra point gave SFU a seven-point advantage with 13:51 to go in the first quarter.

Duquesne answered with a field goal on their ensuing drive. Istache returned the kickoff to the SFU 48. A 24-yard reception by Hines and a key fourth-down conversion by Stuart, on a two-yard run, helped to setup a 28-yard field goal for John Domit. The Red Flash led 7-3 with 9:16 left in the opening quarter.Â

The Dukes took the lead with 1:07 left in the first quarter. After a
Joel Denley (Beaumont, Texas/West Brook) fumble was returned to the SFU 24 by Istache, Stuart connected with Rawlins in the right corner of the end zone for a 21-yard touchdown. SFU trailed 10-7 late in the opening frame.

Duquesne extended its lead to 17-7 on a one-yard sneak by Stuart with 5:49 left in the second quarter. The touchdown completed a 17-play, 78-yard drive, which included a 12-yard catch by Rawlins and five rushes for 25 yards by Hines. After SFU stopped Hines at the goal line on third down, Stuart got in to the end zone on the sneak.

The Dukes held a 24-7 advantage with 2:47 left in the first half. After an interception by Stanback, with was returned to the Duquesne 49, Fulmore scored on a 16-yard run, finding the edge on the left side. Fulmore had a 12-yard carry earlier in the drive and Hines added 21 yards on three carries.
SFU had a late scoring opportunity. Starting the drive at the SFU 48, three catches by Solano, for a total of 29 yards and a 15-yard penalty drawn by Lewis helped to move the ball to the Duquesne 5. After incomplete passes on the first two plays, Fenimore's pass over the middle, intended for Lewis, was picked off.

After a four-game road trip, the Red Flash returns to DeGol Field next Saturday, October 28, for homecoming against Robert Morris. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon on NEC Front Row. The Colonials are 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the NEC after a 21-14 setback against Sacred Heart on Saturday.
