Loretto, Pa. –
Local fans will get their first chance to see the 2017-18 Saint Francis men's basketball team (1-2) this season when it hosts Franciscan in its season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m.

Scouting Franciscan

The Barons are looking for their first win of 2017-18 as they enter Tuesday night 0-3. Keoni Sablan is the team's leading scorer at 11.7 ppg, while freshman center Matt Trent tops the team with 7.7 rebounds per contest.

Series History

The Red Flash and Barons used to meet frequently when the school went by the College of Steubenville. Saint Francis ended the series winners of 11 straight to own a 25-9 all-time record vs. the Ohio school. The last meeting was in 1975, a 94-70 victory for the Red Flash.

Home Sweet Home

Saint Francis will be excited to get in front of its home fans as the Red Flash went 8-6 at DeGol Arena last season and is 26-15 (.634%) at home over the last three seasons. Saint Francis averaged 79.7 points per game on its home court last season, averaging 7.8 made three-pointers per game at DeGol.

REBOUND REBOUND REBOUND

Saint Francis amassed a 43-37 advantage on the glass in its win at Longwood. The rebounding stat is important for the Red Flash as the team went 12-3 when winning the battle of the boards last season and just 5-14 when ending up on the other end.

Point Guard Play Paving the Way

Saint Francis is in good hands at the point guard position with junior Jamaal King (Salisbury, Md./Bishop O'Connell (Va.)) and graduate student Malik Harmon (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) running the controls. King, who is averaging 13.0 points per game through the first three contests, flirted with a triple-double in the win at Longwood with 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists. When he is off the floor, the level hasn't dropped thanks to Harmon. The duo combined for nine assists to just three turnovers at Longwood and boasts an assist to turnover ratio of 1.25.

IMPRESSIVE VICTORY

SFU's 27-point victory at Longwood on Saturday was its largest margin of victory over a DI opponent since a 69-42 win vs. Wagner on Dec. 3, 2009. SFU's largest victory over a DI team last season was a 25-point victory over St. Francis Brooklyn on Jan. 5.
